Hopkins Dental is an independent family dental practice, owned by our dentists Dr Dodd and Dr Garg. We are focused on providing our patients with the best personal care in a friendly, welcoming environment.

OUR PRACTICE

Unlike a growing majority of large dental practices which have been purchased by larger conglomerates, we have maintained our independence; our practice is owned by our dentists Dr Dodd and Dr Garg, who value this freedom to provide the best care at reasonable rates, in the manner they feel best serves our patients.

Our Australian Dental Association-registered practice currently employs five dentists and 12 staff, providing a complete range of dental services. Our Surgery is available for appointments Monday to Saturday. Our clinical hours are 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am – 4.00pm Saturday. We do provide an after hours emergency service for our regular patients during the week after normal hours and on weekends. Attendance at the surgery outside of normal working hours for services that are not related to current treatment will be charged appropriately. Each dentist has their own special areas of interest in dentistry and they work closely together to provide the best care possible for our patients. We pride ourselves in keeping abreast of modern trends and techniques, while still making ourselves available at short notice for all emergency treatments for our patients. All of our dentists regularly attend conferences and courses in order to “brush” up on the latest skills and technology available. We value the professional relationships we have established with our existing patients and always welcome new patients into our practice.

OUR HISTORY

Our dental practice was first established by Dr Newman in 1984. It was located in a tiny, 50m² shop in the Moonah Centre Arcade at the corner of Hopkins Street and Main Road. When it opened there was one assistant employed, who had the roles of receptionist, dental assistant and sterilising assistant. How times have changed!

In 1989, Dr Newman purchased the adjacent medical rooms owned by Dr Paddy Nally and took on his first associate dentist. The practice continued to operate in the Moonah Centre for 20 years. By then it employed three dentists and seven staff working in a space of only 100m². In 2001 Dr Newman decided it was time to establish a new practice that could provide the best possible facilities for a modern dental practice and after a long search for the appropriate location, purchased the property at 66 Hopkins Street in 2003.

The practice relocated to its current, custom-built premises in April 2004. It rapidly grew into its modern surroundings, continuing to supply the same quality dental care at an affordable price, upon which it had built its reputation. As of June 2015, the practice employs five dentists and 12 staff, providing a complete range of dental services.
